Warning light name: Fiat Doblò hill holder warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when the hill holder system has a fault. It automatically comes on when stationary uphill or downhill at a gradient of more than 5%. Hill holder is integral to the Electronic Stability Control system (ESC) and it share components such as wheel speed sensors. On certain models of Fiat Doblò, the ESC warning light illuminates if there’s a fault with the hill holder system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò DPF warning light.
Description: DPF stands for ‘diesel particulate filter’ and is an environmental feature that helps to trap harmful particles, or soot. When the filter becomes full, or ‘saturated’, it requires regeneration. This is often performed automatically without driver knowledge, however if the DPF warning light comes on, the driver must assist with the cleaning process. To do this:
- Drive at a speed of at least 38 mph (60 km/h).
- Keep the engine revs above 2000 rpm.
- Continue driving until the light goes off (usually takes approximately 15 minutes).
- Where possible, try to avoid slowing down or stopping until the process is complete.

The ESC warning light may illuminate for two possible reasons:
▷ Illuminates constantly: ESC has a fault and is not functioning. Being as ESC shares ABS components such as wheel speed sensors, the fault might be related.
▷ Flashing: The ESC light flashing means the system is operating due to the vehicle being towards the end of its stability limit.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò brake warning light.
Description: The red exclamation mark in a circle is the brake warning light. The following conditions or faults apply:
▷ Brake warning light: The parking brake is not fully released.
▷ Brake warning light: If the parking brake is properly released, it may indicate low brake fluid level.
▷ Brake warning light: If the parking brake is properly released and the brake fluid level is sufficient, it indicates that the brake booster pressure may be low. The brake servo is a brake component that provides vacuum, helping the driver by decreasing braking effort.
▷ Brake + ABS + ESC: These three warning lights illuminating simultaneously indicate and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) failure. EBD distributes varied amounts of brake force on individual wheels to provide maximum stopping ability. In the event of EBD failure, there’s a possibility that the rear wheels may suddenly lock.
The brake warning light may indicate a serious issue where your vehicle may be unable to stop, resulting in a accident. Always have your vehicle checked by a qualified Fiat workshop immediately.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò ABS warning light.
Description: Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) are a safety braking feature that prevent wheels from locking, which allows the driver to continue to steer. Description: This warning light comes on when the rear fog lights are switched on.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò check engine warning light.
Description: The check engine warning light may illuminate constantly or flash and may have a text warning message:
▷ Illuminates constantly: The check engine warning light illuminates constantly indicates a malfunction in the supply/ignition system that could cause excessive exhaust emissions, a possible loss of performance, poor driveability and high fuel consumption. The vehicle can still be driven. Reduce speed and avoid excessive speed or acceleration. Prolonged use in this condition may damage the engine.
▷ Flashing: For petrol verisons only, the flashing check engine light usually means a misfiring engine that can result in catalytic converter damage. Immediately reduce speed and avoid excessive speed or high engine revs. When the check engine warning light comes on, it’s required that diagnostic equipment is hooked up to read fault codes.
▷ Diesel versions: The check engine light coming on indicates Urea Injection System Failure. This may indicate that the incorrect fluid is being used or if average UREA consumption over 50% is detected. Have vehicle serviced by a Fiat workshop as soon as possible. If a certain threshold is passed, it may not be possible to start the engine.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò security warning light.
Description: The car and lock symbol is the Fiat security code protection and if the warning light stays on permanently, it indicates a fault with the Fiat Code system. Warning light name: Fiat Doblò low engine oil pressure warning light.
Description: This warning light switches on constantly together with a warning message in the dash display when the system detects that the engine oil pressure is insufficient. Low engine oil pressure can result in significant engine damage. Safely pull off the road and immediately switch off the engine. Check oil level and top up if necessary. Only continue your journey if the oil pressure light goes off.
Diesel MultiJet versions with DPF
A flashing oil pressure light means the system detects that the engine oil has deteriorated. This doesn’t indicate a fault, but requires you to have the engine oil changed. Failure to change the oil will result in reduced engine power mode being implemented. Initially to 3000 rpm, then to 1500 rpm. Continuously taking short trips or interruption of the DPF regeneration causes oil deterioration.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò battery warning light.
Description: The red battery warning light stays on or comes on while driving indicating a charging fault. Possible causes are:
- Alternator / drive belt
- Battery connections / wiring. If driving, immediately switch off any electrical systems that are not required. Once the battery is drained of charge, the engine may switch off.
