Here we cover the Ford Figo dashboard warning lights which includes both generations and both petrol and diesel models. The following Ford Figo dashboard warning lights alert you to a vehicle condition that may become serious. Certain warning lights illuminate when the vehicle is started to ensure they work and will go out shortly after.
|Symbol||Warning Light Description / Action|
|Warning light name: Ford Figo battery warning light.
Description: The illumination of the battery warning light means the alternator is no longer charging the battery. Any electricity being consumed by the vehicle is being drawn from the battery. Once the battery is exhausted, the engine may stop. Switch off any electrical consumers that are not essential and immediately make your way to a repair workshop.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo brake warning light.
Description: The red brake symbol indicates two functions:
▷ Parking brake is engaged.
▷ A fault with the brake system.
If the parking brake is fully released (check it's not slightly latched on), then there is a fault in the vehicle brake system. It's advised to immediately have your vehicle checked as there may be a significant decrease in brake performance.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo ABS warning light.
Description: This symbol illuminates when a fault with the ABS has been detected. ABS stands for anti-lock braking system and is an additional braking aid that prevents wheels from locking when braking hard. This allows the driver to continue to steer. Normal brakes will continue to work as usual but there is an increased risk of locking wheels. The fault is usually related to wheel speed sensors as these are prone to damage.
The ABS warning light may illuminate along with the brake warning light (above) on some models of Figo.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo engine coolant temperature warning light.
Description: If this warning light comes on when driving, it means the coolant temperature is too hot and the engine is overheating. Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and allow the engine to cool. When the engine has cooled down, check the engine coolant level. Add coolant if required. Only continue driving if the warning light goes off.
If the coolant level is already at the specified safe level, it indicates a coolant system failure. This could be due to the water pump malfunctioning. Do not continue driving.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo engine oil warning light.
Description: The red oil can symbol indicates two functions:
▷ Low oil level.
▷ Low oil pressure.
If this warning light comes on while driving, pull off the road and switch off the engine as soon as safely possible. Allow a few minutes for the oil to settle into the pan and check the oil level using the dipstick. Add oil as required. Only resume driving if the oil warning light goes off.
If the oil level is already at the acceptable level, it means there's an issue with the oil pressure. Continued driving will result in engine components not being lubricated and severe engine damage occurring. Arrange to have vehicle towed.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo check engine malfunction warning light.
Description: This engine malfunction warning light is often called the 'check engine' warning light or the 'Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). The light may come on steady or flash:

▷ Flashing: This usually indicates that the engine is misfiring. Reduce speed and avoid high acceleration loads. Engine misfire can result in unburnt fuel entering the vehicle emissions system damaging the catalytic converter. If the warning light continues to flash, have engine serviced as soon as possible.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo engine fault warning light.
Description: The cog and exclamation mark symbol is a generic engine fault warning light. It means there is no specific fault. The powertrain consists of anything from the engine, transmission / gearbox etc. You can continue driving but reduce speed and avoid harsh acceleration. If the warning light begins to flash, it's advised that you attempt to restart the car, particularly if the powertrain warning light comes on with the check engine warning light. The engine may enter reduced power mode.
|Warning light name: Ford Figo airbag warning light.
Description: The airbag warning light remaining lit after engine start or coming on while driving means the airbag / SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) has malfunctioned.
