Peugeot 3008 Start Stop Not Working

Peugeot 3008 Start Stop Not Working

The Peugeot 3008 Stop and Start system helps to save fuel by temporarily putting the engine standby, or STOP mode when at a standstill. For example when stationary at red lights, traffic jams etc. As soon as you move off, the engine restarts and enters START mode.

When the engine goes into standby mode, the green start / stop indicator light Peugeot 3008 Start / Stop Standby Light illuminates in the dashboard. There are instances where the Peugeot 3008 start / stop mode is not working.

Stop Mode Not Working

Stop mode will not work and the engine will not switch off when:

  • The vehicle has stopped on a steep ascending or descending slope.
  • The driver’s door is open.
  • The driver’s seat belt is not secured.
  • From starting the engine using the ignition key or start / stop button, you have not driven at a speed of above 6 mph (10 km/h) since the previous engine start.
  • The electric parking brake has been applied.
  • You have set the cabin temperature in which the engine needs to run to maintain.
  • The interior temperature selected for the air conditioner has not yet been reached.
  • The demister / defrost function is active.
  • Battery charge is low. If you tend to take mainly short trips in your vehicle, this can drain the battery more than long journeys. Starting the engine is a significant battery drain and stop mode may not work if the system detects the battery charge is too low.
  • The engine temperature is hot and requires cooling.
  • Braking assistance where the engine is required to maintain control of a system.
  • Ambient temperature.

During any of the instances above where stop mode fails to operate, the indicator light Peugeot 3008 Start / Stop Standby Light flashes for a few seconds then goes out.

Start Mode Activated

Outside of the normal start / stop phase, start mode is automatically activated and the engine starts by itself when:

  • Battery has low charge (as above).
  • The interior temperature of the vehicle differs from the value selected on the air conditioner.
  • The demister / defrost button has been activated.
  • High power consumption.
  • Other instances where the engine is required to be running for control of a system.

During any of the instances above where stop mode fails to operate, the indicator light Peugeot 3008 Start / Stop Standby Light flashes for a few seconds then goes out.

Start / Stop Mode Operating Fault

If a fault with the start / stop system occurs, the start / stop OFF warning light flashes Peugeot 3008 Start / Stop Fault Light for a few seconds, then remains on and a message will appear in the instrument panel.
