The first generation (MK1) of the Peugeot 3008 was launched in 2009 with the second generation (MK2) following in 2016. This Peugeot 3008 dashboard warning lights guide displays symbols for both the MK1 and MK2 versions of the Peugeot 3008 and all model variants.
Here we briefly look at the Peugeot 3008 symbols that are related to vehicle lighting.
|Symbol||Description / Action|
|This is the Peugeot 3008 sidelights symbol.|
|This is the dipped or low beam night driving headlights symbol.|
|The blue main / full beam symbol differentiates itself from other symbol colours to enable the driver to visually see that main beams are on and to quickly change from main to dipped beam when required.|
|The Peugeot 3008 automatic headlight dipping uses a camera located at the top of the windscreen to detect vehicle tail lights or headlights and automatically switches from main to dipped beam. The system may not function correctly during heavy rain or snow or when the windscreen is dirty.|
|This amber symbol illuminates on the dashboard indicating that the rear fog lights are activated.|
|This symbol illuminates indicating that the front fog lights are activated.|
|These arrow symbols illuminate left or right when indicating and both sides illuminate when the hazard warning lights button is pressed.|
Vehicle Faults and Utility Lights
These warning lights will come on when a vehicle utility has been activated or when a system has been switched off when it’s on by default. The warning lights below are also used to bring awareness to vehicle faults, in particular red lights that represent urgency.
|For diesel versions of the Peugeot 3008, the pre-heat or glow plugs warning light comes on when the ignition is set to on. The glow plugs light goes out when the engine is ready to start. The period of time that the glow plugs light remains lit is determined by ambient temperatures. The light may remain lit for up to 30 seconds in very cold conditions or may not illuminate at all in warm environments. If the engine does not start, switch off the ignition and wait for the glow plugs light to go out again.|
|The Peugeot 3008 start and stop mode warning light comes on in green when the system is active and the vehicle has stopped. In start mode, the vehicle starts and the light goes out.
Flashing: If the start and stop green light flashes for a few seconds then goes out, it means stop mode is temporarily unavailable.
Off: The amber warning light will illuminate when the start and stop feature has been manually switched off in the settings.
Operating Restrictions - There are certain requirements that must be met for the start / stop system to operate. See Peugeot 3008 start stop not working for further information.
|This red warning light indicates that the electric parking brake has been applied. Press the brake pedal and briefly push the parking brake control lever to release the parking brake.
Flashing: If the red electric parking brake symbol flashes, there's a fault with the application or release of the brake. Stop as soon as it's safe to do so, leave the vehicle in a gear (P for automatic) and switch off the engine. Contact a Peugeot qualified engineer.
Amber: If the amber parking brake and exclamation mark symbol illuminates, the parking brake has a non-critical fault. Contact Peugeot as soon as possible.
There are many fault lights and warning messages associated with the parking brake. For further details, see Peugeot 3008 parking brake faults.
|This light illuminates the the automatic feature of the electronic parking brake have been manually deactivated. In very cold weather conditions or when towing a caravan it is recommended that you do not use the electronic parking brake. The Peugeot 3008 MK1 will display this warning and the symbol when a fault has been detected with the electronic parking brake.|
|1. This is the passenger airbag on warning light. The passenger airbag switch is located in the glove box. In this instance, do not install a rearward facing child seat
on this seat.
2. Set the control switch to the off position. In this instance you can install a rearward facing child seat, unless there is a fault with the airbags (airbag warning light is on).
|The Peugeot 3008 illuminates temporarily when the ignition is set to on and the engine has started. It should go out shortly. If the light stays on or comes on when driving, one of the airbag or seat belt pretensioner systems has a fault. Contact a qualified Peugeot engineer at your earliest opportunity.|
|The Peugeot 3008 MK1 parking sensors light comes on when the system is active. The light flashes when the system is measuring distances and remains fixed when measuring is done.|
|1. The Peugeot 3008 Hill Assist / Descent Control system (grey light) has been activated, but is paused because the speed is too high. The system is paused at speeds between 18 and 30 mph (30 and 50 km/h). To activate the system, reduce the speed of the vehicle.
2. The steady green light indicates the system has been activated, but
the conditions for regulation are not met. For example; gradient / gear engaged. The green flashing light indicates the system is regulating the speed of the vehicle.
|The Peugeot 3008 blind spot monitoring system warns the driver of a vehicle in the blind spot are of their vehicle by the illumination of a warning light in the corresponding side mirror. In the event of a system fault, the blind spot monitoring light flashes along with the service warning light. The system may failt to operate correctly in certain weather conditions such as rain or hail. Driving from a dry are to a wet area can cause false alerts. Ensure the sensors located on the front and rear bumpers are kept clean.|
|The Peugeot 3008 automatic rain sensitive windscreen wipers activate without driver intervention.
• Do not cover the rain sensor located in the top centre of the windscreen.
• Switch off the automatic rain sensitive wipers when using an automatic car wash.
• In winter, to avoid wiper damage, it's recommended to wait until the windscreen is completely clear of ice before activating the automatic rain sensitive wipers.
|The Peugeot 3008 Distance alert and Active Safety Brake warns the driver if the vehicle is at risk of a collision with a vehicle or pedestrian in the traffic lane. The system provides braking assistance if it deems the drivers actions are inadequate. If the vehicle in front is too close, alert level 1 provides a visual alert with the message Vehicle close. Alert level 2 provides a visual alert , with an audible alarm and the message Brake. Active Safety Brake will display the warning symbol when there is a fault with the system along with an audible sound and a message. Check that the sensors (camera and radar located centre top of windscreen) are not covered by dirt, mud, frost or snow.|
|The Peugeot 3008 Assisted Lane Departure Warning System uses a camera located at the top of the windscreen that identifies lane markings on the ground. The system alerts the driver and corrects the vehicle trajectory if it detects involuntary crossing of lane lines.
System Fault - If there is a fault with the system, the warning light illuminates along with the SERVICE light . If the system fails to operate correctly, ensure the view of the camera is clear and if the warning light remains on, have system checked.
Fixed Light - Due to the limitations of the system, the system has been temporarily disabled. This could be due to poor weather, driving too close to the vehicle in front, sun / car headlight dazzle / reflections, worn road markings.
Flashing Light - You are about to cross a lane marking without indicating.
|The Peugeot 3008 STOP warning light illuminates alongside another warning light, is accompanied by a warning message and an audible alarm. The STOP warning light is associated with a serious fault with the engine, braking system, power steering, automatic gearbox or a major electrical fault. If this warning light comes on, safely stop as soon as possible, secure the car and switch off the engine. Contact a qualified Peugeot engineer for further information.|
|The Peugeot 3008 SERVICE warning light may illuminate as text or as a spanner / wrench symbol.
Temporary - The SERVICE / spanner light illuminates temporarily along with a warning message. This is a minor fault in which there is no specific light. In this instance, warning messages provide information into the fault.
Fixed constant - The SERVICE / spanner light illuminates constantly indicating a more serious fault. Warning messages will be displayed. In this instance, contact a qualified Peugeot workshop.
SERVICE + spanner - The SERVICE warning light illuminates along with the flashing spanner symbol. This indicates the service interval has been exceeded.
The MK1 Peugeot 3008 uses an amber triangle that contains a exclamation mark as the service warning light.
|The Peugeot 3008 engine overheating / coolant warning light is an indication that the engine coolant is too hot and requires cooling. Taking traffic conditions into consideration, stop as soon as possible to allow the engine to cool down. Wait around 10 to 15 minutes and check coolant levels. Add coolant if required. If coolant requires frequent topping up, there is likely a leak in the system.|
|The Peugeot 3008 oil light is an indication that the oil pressure is low. Sufficient pressure is required to lubricate engine components. If there is insufficient pressure, oil may not lubricate components resulting in damage. As soon as you're able to do so, pull over and switch off the engine. Do not attempt to restart the engine and contact a Peugeot qualified workshop.|
|The Peugeot 3008 battery warning light comes on with the ignition and goes out shortly after the engine has started. If it comes on when driving, it indicates a battery charging malfunction. It's possible that there's a limited amount of time before the engine stops running. To prolong this, turn off any non-essential vehicle systems that consume electricity. Possible faults include:
• Battery terminals (dirty or loose)
• Alternator belt (broken or loose)
|The Peugeot 3008 ABS warning light indicates a fault with the anti-lock braking system. ABS is a safety feature that is an extension of the conventional braking system. It helps to prevent wheels from locking when under heavy braking or when braking on low traction surfaces. Locked, skidding wheels prevent the driver from steering, which is where the benefit of ABS is. The fault is usually sensor related. ABS failure will not affect conventional braking.|
|The exclamation mark symbols are the Peugeot 3008 brake warning lights.
1. The red brake warning light indicates low brake fluid. Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and add fluid to the brake reservoir tank. If fluid requires frequent topping up, it's likely that there's a leak in the brake circuit.
2. The amber brake warning light indicates a minor fault with the brake system. You can continue to drive, but have brake system repaired as soon as possible.
|The red brake light illuminating simultaneously with the ABS warning light indicates a fault with the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD). For greater stability, EBFD varies the amount of brake force on a per-wheel basis. With a EBFD fault, braking may become unpredictable. Stop as soon as safe to do so and contact an authorised Peugeot workshop.|
|The Peugeot 3008 dynamic stability control (DSC) and traction control system / Anti-slip regulation (ASR) help to keep the vehicle stable when accelerating and when cornering. Though DSC is always on by default at each engine start, it is only in operation when the warning light flashes.
Flashing: DSC is in operation and attempting to stabilize the vehicle.
Fixed on: DSC has a fault. DSC uses the same sensors as ABS meaning the DSC and ABS light may come on simultaneously. You can continue to drive the vehicle but without these safety features. Drive with caution and have vehicle fixed as soon as possible.
|The Peugeot 3008 lane departure system uses a camera mounted at the top centre of the windscreen which recognises solid or broken lines and detects the involuntary crossing of traffic lane markings on the ground. This warning light flashes when your vehicle crosses lane lines without indication.
Fixed light: The system is not available or is in standby mode.
Flashing: Your vehicle is about to cross a lane line without indicating.
Fault: The lane departure warning light illuminates along with the SERVICE light. Ensure the area on the windscreen where the camera is located is clear from dirt.
|The Peugeot 3008 tyre under-inflation system triggers a warning light and audible alert and warning message when it detects a drop in the inflation pressure of one or more tyres. It is necessary to reset the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted and after changing one or more wheels. A fault is detected in the tyre pressure monitoring system when the under-inflation light flashes along with the SERVICE light. Peugeot 3008 MK1 will display this warning and the symbol when a fault has been detected with the tyre pressure system.
|The engine autodiagnosis system, also known as the check engine light or engine management light should come on as normal with the ignition / engine start and goes out shortly. If the light comes on when driving or fails to go out:
Fixed on: Emissions control has a fault. The vehicle could be emitting toxic emissions and may be using more fuel than usual.
Flashing: Engine management fault. Possible engine misfire resulting in destruction of catalytic converter. Have vehicle serviced immediately.
|An AdBlue warning light is triggered automatically to warn you when the reserve level is getting low and requires topping up. Top up with AdBlue as soon as possible to continue using the vehicle. You can add up to 10 litres of AdBlue to the tank.|
|For MK1 versions of the Peugeot 3008, this is the water in diesel filter warning light. The filter requires changing or draining of water. Continued driving may risk damage to the injection system. The filter can be drained yourself or contact a Peugeot workshop for assistance.|
