The SsangYong Tivoli SUV was originally launched during 2015 in South Korea. Here we cover the dashboard warning lights for the SsangYong Tivoli and the larger version, the Tivoli XLV.

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 1 SsangYong Tivoli tachometer
The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute. The faster the engine speed, the more fuel is used. Always try to avoid the ‘red zone’ as this is where the engine is running excessively fast and may result in damage.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 2 SsangYong Tivoli left turn indicator
This symbol flashes in green when indicating left. Both the left and right turn indicators flash when the hazard warning lights are applied.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 3 SsangYong Tivoli coolant temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature of the engine coolant. If the gauge begins to rise from the center towards the H (hot), it indicates the coolant is overheating. This will cause the engine to overheat and may result in damage. Stop the vehicle and allow the engine to cool.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 4 SsangYong Tivoli gear shift indicator

  • For automatic transmission vehicles, the current position of the shift lever is displayed.
  • For manual transmission vehicles, the indicator shows up only when the gear shifts or the shift lever is in R position.
  • For the manual mode of automatic transmission vehicles or manual transmission vehicles, the optimal shift point is indicated by an arrow according to vehicle speed and rpm condition.

This gauge displays the current level of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. The fuel gauge may move slightly during braking, accelerating or turning. The arrow next to the fuel tank symbol SsangYong Tivoli fuel filler cap locator indicates which side the fuel filler cap is located. Avoid driving the vehicle when the fuel level is very low. due to incomplete combustion, the catalytic converter could be damaged.

This symbol flashes in green when indicating right. Both the left and right turn indicators flash when the hazard warning lights are applied.

The speedometer displays vehicle speed in kilometers per hour (km/h) or mile per hour (MPH).

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 11 SsangYong Tivoli smart key check warning light

  • This warning light flashes along with a audible alarm when all the doors are closed and when the door lock/unlock button on the outside door handle is pressed with the smart key inside the vehicle, the doors will not be locked.
  • When a driver carrying an invalid smart key presses the engine start/stop button, this warning light comes on.
  • When the driver carrying a valid smart key opens a door and gets out the vehicle with the ignition switch ON or the engine is running, this warning light flashes. If the door is closed, the light flashes along with an audible alarm.

This warning light flashes along with an audible alarm (5 times) when your speed exceeds 120 km/h (75 mph).

This indicator light illuminates when the cruise control ON/OFF switch is turned on. The READY indicator will go off when pressing the cruise control ON/OFF switch once more.

This indicator light comes on when the cruise control system is switched on.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 17 SsangYong Tivoli immobiliser / smart key warning light

  • REKES key: Flashes when immobiliser system has malfunctioned.
  • Smart key: Flashes when smart key system has malfunctioned or key authentication fails.
    If flashing continues, replace batteries. If flashing still continues, the system is defective and the keys may require reprogramming.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 18 SsangYong Tivoli ESCL warning light
The Electrical Steering Column Lock (ESCL) warning light contains the device that has the electronic control of the locking and unlocking of the steering wheel in the vehicle with the smart key. It may not be possible to start the vehicle if the ESCL warning light comes on. Have system checked by a qualified SsangYong engineer.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 19 SsangYong Tivoli EPS warning light
EPS, or Electronic Power Steering comes on when the ignition switch is turned on and goes off with engine start. When there’s a malfunction with the EPS system, this warning light illuminates in amber. EPS helps the driver by making the steering wheel easier to turn. In the event of failure, a noticeable increase in force will be required to turn the wheel.

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 20 SsangYong Tivoli seat belt reminder warning light
This driver and passenger seat belt reminder warning light flashes along with an audible alarm for 6 seconds when the ignition is set to on, unless the driver & passenger (EU) seat belt is securely fastened.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 21 SsangYong Tivoli air bag warning light
When the ignition is switched on, the air bag warning light illuminates for 6 seconds and then should go out. This is normal and confirms the air bag system is operational. If the light does not come on or does not go out or if it flashes, it means the air bag system has malfunctioned. This is usually due to a sensor or cabling / connection issue.

The BRAKE warning light comes on either when the parking brake has been applied or the brake fluid level is lower than the safe specified level. Driving with the parking brake applied can significantly wear and overheat the brakes. In this instance, the warning light and audible alarm sounds. Stop and immediately release the parking brake. If the parking brake is fully released and the light remains on, check brake fluid levels as soon as possible. Brakes may not work efficiently.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 23 SsangYong Tivoli 4WD CHECK warning light
The 4WD CHECK warning light illuminates on the dashboard when the ignition is set to ON and should go out after a few seconds. If the light stays on or comes on when driving a fault has been detected with the system. The 4WD CHECK warning light will flash if the 4WD system is overheating. If the light is flashing, to prevent the coupling from being damaged, slow down and avoid using the accelerator to excess until the light goes out. If the warning light stays on, have system checked as soon as possible.

The 4WD LOCK warning light illuminates with the ignition set to ON and should go out after a few seconds. This warning light comes on when pressing the 4WD LOCK switch to use 4WD LOCK mode. This indicator goes off when pressing the switch again to release 4WD LOCK mode.

An indication that the EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) system has malfunctioned is when the ABS and BRAKE warning light come on simultaneously. In this instance, ABS will fail to operate. EBD allows for individual wheel braking and when faulty, braking can become unstable during heavy braking. Have system check by qualified SsangYong engineer as soon as possible.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 26 SsangYong Tivoli global warning light
The global warning light is the tyre / tire pressure warning light. There are two instances where the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light comes on:

  • The TPMS system (including sensor) has a malfunction. The warning light flashes for approximately 70 seconds then stays on.
  • Tyre pressure abnormality. This could be due to under-inflated, over-inflated or tyre burst. In this instance, the warning light stays on. Stop as soon as possible and check pressure or change wheel. If tyre pressure are altered or wheel is changed, pressure are automatically adjusted after continuous driving (over 20 km/h) for around 5 minutes.

The illumination of the low fuel warning light varies based on driving conditions. If this warning light comes on while driving, immediately refuel the tank.

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 28 SsangYong Tivoli ABS warning light
The ABS (anti-lock braking system) warning light illuminates on the dashboard when the ignition is set to ON and should go out after a few seconds. ABS system performs self diagnosis by transferring hydraulic pressure to the brake units for few seconds after starting the engine. If the light stays on or comes on when driving, there’s a fault with the ABS system. To allow steering under heavy braking, ABS prevents the wheels from locking. When ABS fails, conventional braking remains unaffected. Have system checked as soon as possible.

ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is on by default on each engine start. Pressing and holding the ESP OFF switch for seconds or more will light up the dashboard ESP light to show that the ESP function has been deactivated.

The Electronic Control Program (ESP) is a safety system that helps to stabilise the vehicle. This could be for example when traveling round a sharp corner, the ESP applies the brakes on certain wheels, and/or controls the engine torque to aid stabilisation. this works automatically and helps to avoid a dangerous situation. When no instability is detected, ESP is not operational but is always on and ready to intervene. If ESP is operational, the warning light flashes. If the light comes on (non-flashing), the system has a fault.

The door ajar warning light comes on when a door or the tailgate / boot is either opened or not closed securely.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 32 SsangYong Tivoli glow plugs indicator (DSL)
For diesel versions of the SsangYong Tivoli only, when the ignition is set to ON, the glow plugs light illuminates. When the glow plugs are sufficiently heated, the light will go out. For direct injection engine versions of the Tivoli, the warning light may come on very shortly or may not even come on. If the warning light comes on when driving, it indicates a fault in the system. Have system checked as soon as possible.

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 33 SsangYong Tivoli battery charge warning light
The battery charge warning light comes on in red with ignition and should go out when the engine has started. If the light comes on when driving, it indicates a charging fault. The alternator is not charging the battery. Continued driving with the battery charge warning light illuminated will result in a sudden stop of vehicle engine. This may cause an accident. Immediately drive to a repair station.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 34 SsangYong Tivoli engine oil pressure warning light
The engine oil pressure warning light illuminates due to a lubrication fault. If the light comes on, pull over and check oil level. Add oil if required. If no oil is required or the light remains on, there is a fault with the lubrication system. This can cause serious damage to the engine. In this situation, switch the engine off and discontinue driving.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 35 SsangYong Tivoli engine overheat warning light
When the engine is overheating, this red warning light flashes along with an audible buzzer. Stop the vehicle and allow the engine to cool down – continual driving will damage the engine. When the engine has cooled, check coolant levels.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 36 SsangYong Tivoli AEBS OFF indicator light
Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) is switched on by default at each engine start. The AEBS OFF indicator light comes on when the system is manually switched off.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 37 SsangYong Tivoli power mode indicator
SsangYong Tivoli power mode is for automatic vehicles and is used if you need more power during abrupt acceleration or driving up steep hills. Press once the mode switch (E → P → W) on the switch panel located to the left switch cluster turns on the power mode indicator. The power mode and winter mode indicators flash simultaneously indicating a system failure.

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 38 SsangYong Tivoli ISG indicator light (M/T)
The SsangYong Tivoli engine start / stop feature stops the engine temporarily when waiting in traffic. This improves fuel consumption and reduces exhaust emissions. ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system can be deactivated by pressing the ISG OFF switch.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 39 SsangYong Tivoli winter mode indicator
SsangYong winter mode enables the vehicle to start from 2nd gear, ideal to use on slippery road surfaces. Do not use winter mode in normal driving conditions, only during icy conditions. Pressing the mode switch (E → P → W) on the switch panel located to the left switch cluster twice turns on the winter mode indicator.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 40 SsangYong Tivoli fuel filter warning light (DSL)
On diesel versions of the SsangYong Tivoli only. during normal operation, the fuel filter warning light comes on when the ignition is switched to ON and goes out after a few seconds. Whilst driving, the warning light comes on along with an audible alarm indicating that water is inside the water separator fuel filter and has exceeded a certain level.

 

SsangYong Tivoli Symbol 41 SsangYong Tivoli engine check warning light
The check engine warning light comes on with the ignition and goes out shortly after the engine has started. If the check engine warning light comes on when driving, certain engine control components such as sensors are defective. The vehicle will operate in safety mode at reduced speed to prevent the system from being damaged. In this mode, the engine may stall. Have vehicle check as soon as possible.
