Suzuki Celerio Dashboard Warning Lights

The Celerio was first launched by Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki in 2014. Also known in Asia as the Suzuki Cultus (models VXR, VXL and AGS), this guide covers the dashboard warning lights for the Suzuki Celerio and all model variants such as the SZ2 and SZ3.

Dashboard information displays and warning symbol location may vary depending on your model of Celerio / Cultus, but the warning lights all have the same meaning. Locate the warning light on the dashboard diagram above and read the fault description and what action to take below.

Suzuki Celerio Brake Warning Light Warning Light Meaning:
The Suzuki Celerio brake warning light should come on briefly when the ignition is switched to on and shortly go out. The brake light also comes on when:

  • The parking brake has been applied.
  • Brake fluid levels are too low.
  • Fault with brake system.

What to do:
If the brake warning light remains on, do the following:

  1. Ensure the parking brake is properly released.
  2. If it is, stop as soon as possible and check brake fluid levels. Add fluid if necessary. Note; Brake fluid levels naturally fall over time as brake pads wear out.
  3. If brake fluid levels are sufficient and the parking brake is properly released, there is a brake system fault. On a quiet road, test the brakes by carefully stopping and starting. If the brakes appear safe, drive immediately to your nearest Suzuki workshop.

ABS and Brake Warning Light
If the ABS and brake warning light come on together, it indicates a fault with the rear brake force control (proportioning valve function) of the ABS system has failed. Immediately contact a Suzuki workshop.

Suzuki Celerio ABS Warning Light Warning Light Meaning:
The Suzuki Celerio ABS warning light comes on briefly as the ignition is switched to on and goes out shortly after. If the warning light stays on or comes on when you’re driving, there’s a fault with the ABS system. The Suzuki Celerio ABS (anti-lock braking system) is a safety system that prevent wheels from locking whilst under emergency braking. This helps the driver to steer.
What to do:

  1. Carefully pull off the road.
  2. Turn off the engine and switch the ignition to the ‘lock’ position and restart the engine. If the ABS warning light stays on, have it checked by a Suzuki workshop as soon as possible.

Note
ABS is a separate system to normal brakes and the failure of ABS does not affect normal braking. There is however an increased risk of locking wheels when braking.

Suzuki Celerio Check Engine Warning Light Warning Light Meaning:
The Suzuki Celerio malfunction indicator light (MIL) or ‘check engine light’ comes on as part of the computer controlled emissions system and indicates that this system requires servicing. This malfunction light comes on for two possible reasons:

  1. A fault has been detected with the emissions control system.
  2. A fault has been detected with the continuously variable transaxle system or the Auto Gear Shift system.

What to do:
In either situation, a good Suzuki workshop is required to diagnose and read fault codes to establish where the fault is. It is however possible to obtain your own diagnostic equipment for fault code reading.
Note
If the malfunction warning light begins flashing, have your vehicle checked quickly as there is potential for damage.

Suzuki Celerio Oil Pressure Warning Light Warning Light Meaning:
The oil light comes on when the ignition is switched on, but should go out shortly. The Suzuki Celerio red oil warning light is an indication of two issues:

What to do:

  1. Do so safely but as a matter of urgency, pull off the road and turn off the engine.
  2. Using the dipstick, check engine oil level and add oil if required.
  3. If oil levels are normal and/or the oil light remains on, this indicates low oil pressure.

Important
Do not continue to drive. Severe engine damage will likely occur due to the engine lubrication system failing. Contact a Suzuki workshop and arrange for vehicle recovery.

Suzuki Celerio Battery Warning Light Warning Light Meaning:
The Suzuki Celerio battery warning light comes on with the ignition switched to on, but should go out shortly after. If the light stays on or comes on when driving, there is a battery charging system fault.

  1. If you look careful in the dashboard I see ECO and Cruise, SET LIMIT and one symbol looks like a battery. Another symbol looks like a round thing with an arrow towards. NOone talks about them. I’m trying to instal an Steering cruise control ordered from china. But plugs doesn’t match in clockspring. So trying to search the web about wiring, diagrams of the clockspring and how to install a cruise control. I cannot find anything. What a waste.

    1. Hi Volk,
That’s a very specific retrofit there. Can the company that you purchased the cruise control help? Surely they must have some knowledge on the subject? Failing that, perhaps approach Suzuki themselves to see if they can help in any way.

  2. i see flash light blinking in regular frequency while locked by key at the parked car. it indicates near right of RPM meter in number 16 point of dash board. what would be the problem? and solution for that please

    1. Hi Kailash,
If you’re sure there’s sufficient oil in the engine, the first thing to do would be to check for leaks. Second will be to check oil level sensor is functioning.

  3. I see flash light blinking in regular frequency while locked by key at the parked car. it indicates near right of RPM meter in dash board. what would be the problem? and solution for that please

    1. Hi Mae,
I think you might be referring to the security / immobilizer light. If that’s what you’re seeing, then it’s supposed to flash at regular intervals when the car is locked up. It provides a visual reference so that you know the car is secure.

  4. Celerio vxi cng Co., New model,
When cng was in reserve car was running but after sometime cng tool like light started blinking, I topped up, car is running but little bit pickup has issue.

  5. Thanks for the diagram above.
I see an amber flashing light that looks like #16. I am initially thinking we have a battery issue. When the battery is newly changed.
Could this be the reason that my car won’t start. After getting the battery jump started, this flashing light appeared after turning off the ignition key.
    Can someone please advise.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Ace,
I would probably think that by disconnecting the battery, it has caused the immobilizer to activate. I’m not sure what you need to do with the Suzuki Celerio, but hopefully that will give you something to go on.

  6. The digital display on my Celerio has gradually disappeared, until I can no longer see the mileage or fuel gauge. Any ideas what this could be?
I gave the display a gentle push and the fuel gauge returned. Could it be faulty wiring?
I also saw at one point a picture of a battery. Not the car battery indicator, but a different indicator that looks more like a standard household battery.

    Any help much appreciated.

    1. Hi George,
If it had suddenly stopped working, it would most likely be a fuse, but as you say, it happened gradually and to a certain extent came back after manipulating it, it would suggest a wiring / connector issue. Could the battery light be related to to the key fob battery being exhausted?

  7. Hello
I having stiff steel wheel , I do not know if that it is the way it is.
“The most common cause of a stiff steering wheel is the lack of enough power steering fluid in the system. This condition can arise if there’s fluid leakage from the pressurised hose area. Refilling the liquid in the power steering tank will fix the problem for the time being, but the leak must be taken care of.”
    No idea.
No showing any warning lights on the dashboard.
    Suzuki Celerio 2017, 34k miles

    1. Hi Rafa.
Isn’t the Suzuki Celerio 2017 electric power steering (EPS)? It is normal for steering to be stiffer a slower speeds, but if it’s excessively stiff, there may be a problem. Joints may become stiff if the vehicle hasn’t been driven in some time. Underinflated tires can also impact the steering. Has the vehicle had a collision, such as banging into a curb? This can damage joints. Failing that, it’s likely to do with the power steering motor or control module. The power steering motor can overheat when used excessively, but when cooled, it should resume as normal.

    1. Hi Satish,
The transmission / transaxle warning light refers to the automatic transmission of your Celerio. It may be a issue with transmission fluid being low. But the first thing you need to do is to use a OBD II tool to scan for fault codes. Most vehicle workshops have these. You plug them in to your car’s OBD port and if your car has fault codes stored, the scanner will read them and hopefully give you more specifics on where the fault is.

  8. My car is suzuki Celario 2021.Today while I was driving the Brake warning light together with ABS warning light blink for just a fraction of a second and gone. But it happned three times with an interval of 5-7 minutes. What should I do?

    1. Hi Fitse
This is usually an indication of a problem with the Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), EBD distributes more brake force to specific wheels that need it, thereby improving the vehicle’s braking efficiency. If there’s a problem with EBD, the brakes can become less reliable and may randomly lock. When it comes to your brakes, I wouldn’t take any risks and have it checked right away. If it was just the ABS light, it wouldn’t be so urgent.

If your Celerio is a 2021 reg, isn’t it still in warranty?

  9. Good day all. I drive a Suzuki celerio 2017. Today I tried to start the car and only the door light and bright lights displayed on the dash. Nothing else. My car also refuses to start.
